ENGINERPIING <br /> 12799 PADDY CREEK LANE LODI, CA 95240 <br /> 14 0 PM (204)368-9381 FAX(209) 367-1163 <br /> Ms Linda Turkatte February 20, 1997 <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division <br /> P O Box 388 <br /> Stockton, CA 95201 <br /> REPORT OF PHASE 1 SITE MONITORING <br /> Subject Norman Higgins A K A Vogue Cleaners <br /> 2315 N California Sti eet <br /> Stockton, CA Site code 231032 <br /> Dear Ms Turkatte, <br /> The following is a report of the site monitoring activities performed by Foothill Engineering for Mr <br /> Higgins <br /> SITE HISTORY <br /> • The site has a long history of use as a clearing establishment and presently continues to have the same <br /> use On June 6, 1996, Thorpe Oil removed two empty underground storage tanks from the property <br /> under a permit from the PHS/EHD Soil samples from the tank excavation were obtained using <br /> standard methods and locations The sample from under Tank#1 was taken at a depth of+/- eight <br /> feet The sample from Tank#2 was taken at a depth of+/- nine feet Both these samples and samples <br /> from the excavation spoil showed evidence of hydrocarbon contamination (See map enclosed) All <br /> of the above samples were analyzed by GeoAnalytical Laboratories, Inc The location of Tank #1 <br /> is between two structures and is 25'from the closest access point by drilling equipment Tank#2 can <br /> be accessed by vertical drilling equipment <br /> On November 8, 1996 two borings were made under the above stated tank areas and a monitoring <br /> well was established for ground water sampling All soil samples from both borings and the results <br /> of the first groundwater sample were submitted in a report dated December 16, 1996 <br /> SCOPE OF INVESTIGATION <br /> On 02/10/97 Del-Tech Geotechnical Support Services obtained a second groundwater sample from <br /> MW#1 The samples were analyzed by Sherwood Labs for EPA method 601, 602, and 5030/8015M <br /> RESULTS OF WATER ANALYSIS FROM MW #1 <br /> MW#1 had a water ground water table at 44 53 feet from the surface at the time the samples were <br /> taken Analysis by Sherwood Labs on the water sample indicated a small amount of Xylene (0 6 <br /> ug/Kg) present (see Sherwood Labs report) All other constituents were below detection levels <br /> • CONCLUSIONS FROM THE WATER SAMPLES OF 02/10/97 <br /> The groundwater level in MW#I has risen about four feet from the measurements taken on 11/27/96 <br /> 1 <br />
