The <br />' existing municipal well is 2,500'up gradient and is not threatened by this site 5) Ingestion of milk, <br /> meats, eggs, fruits and vegetables grown on site that have bio-accumulated the contaminants is <br /> limited to only fruits and vegetables This property is zoned commercial and is not expected to ever <br />' have farm animals okro)v crops,but there is the possibility of a vegetable garden The top 5'of soil <br /> was not exposed to contamination which will negate the risk to the root zone 6) Absorption <br /> through the skin by contact with soil particles would only threaten those who were actively digging <br /> below 5 feet and should not be considered a threat 7) Absorption through the skin by contact with <br /> groundwater should not be considered a threat to humans because of the extremely unlikelihood of <br /> a well being placed within the influence area of this site 8) Absorption through the skin by contact <br /> with surface water is not a threat to humans because there is not any surface water within the <br /> influence area of this site <br /> In order to enumerate the risk attributable to the Vogue Cleaners site a risk assessment was <br /> performed using an Excel Spreadsheet produced by Berkeley National Laboratory called CaITOX <br /> CaITOX is a multimedia total exposure model using macros in Microsoft's Excel spreadsheet <br /> program, Exhibit H CaITOX Version 4 0(Beta)was used A cancer risk goal of 1x10(one in a <br /> million)attributable to this site is acceptable Two contaminants were considered- Benzene in soil <br /> and water, and 1,2-DCA in water. Gasoline was not a compound available in CaITOX Human <br /> exposure pathways were inhalation of soil vapors and consumption of fivits and vegetables grown <br /> on site As mentioned previously the type of use and position of the property excludes any other <br /> long term exposure pathway The most susceptible persons are females 19+ years because birth <br /> defects are attributed to this group <br /> Benzene in Soil and Water= Risk of 1 Ox 10-256 <br /> 1,2-DCA in water= Risk of 2 6x10"' <br /> . The above risk assessment indicates that the goal of one in one million is surpassed by this site <br /> 5 <br />
