' On October 21, 2005 CPT #1 and#2 were installed All samples were non-detect for BTEX,
and oxygenates and fuel additives
. CPT#1 AND #2 SOIL LITHOLOGY
The soil lithology at CPT#1 is characterized by alternating layers of silts and clays, with
intermittent layers of"stiff fine grained" (hardpan) and one significant sand layer at 70' to 83'
The soil Iithology at CPT#2 is characterized by alternating layers of silts and clays, with
intermittent layers of"stiff fine grained" (hardpan)without any sandy water bearing layers
CPT #1 AND #2 SOIL AND WATER SAMPLES 10/21/05
SAMPLING PROCEDURE
Sampling was performed with a Cone Penetration Test(CPT) machine from Gregg In Situ,Inc A
push bore was first performed with an integrated cone equipped with side friction load cell, bearing
pressure load cell, and pore pressure transducer to identify the soil lithology, and to select water
bearing layers(sands) for sample depths Soil samples were taken with V steel tubes pushed into
the soil at selected depths The steel tubes were recovered, the ends covered with Teflon squares,
capped, and sealed with duct tape and labeled Water samples were collected with a disposable
PVC screen pushed to a selected sample depth and brought to the surface with a down shaft steel
bailer The bailer was used to fill VOAs The VOAs were filled and capped to remove all air
bubbles, and labeled All soil and water samples were stored on ice in ziplocs until delivered to
Castle Analytical
• WATER TABLE ELEVATIONS AND GRADIENT
At the time of sampling the depth to water at MW-5 was 45 3'
SAMPLE ANALYSIS FINDINGS
Test were performed for BTEX, TPHg, Oxygenates, 1,2 DCA, EDB, and Volatile Organics
CPT#1 was non-detect for BTEX, Oxygenates, 1,2 DCA, and EDB in soil and water CPT#1 did
have detectable concentrations of Chloromethane at 12ppb in soil at 55', and Chloroform in water
at concentrations up to 1 1 ppb at 82', and 100'
CPT#2 was non-detect for BTEX, Oxygenates, 1,2 DCA, and EDB in soil and water CPT#1 did
have detectable concentrations of Tetrachloroethene (PERC) at 5 6ppb in water at 75', and
Chloroform in water at concentrations up to 1 1 ppb at 75', and 100'
MASS OF BENZENE,TPHg, AND 1,2-DCA REMAINING IN THE GROUND WATER
With the new data from the CPT's to help define the points of non-detect, and the monitoring of
March 17,2005 the Iso-concentration lines for benzene,TPHg,and 1,2-DCA were revised from the
original submittal of the Site Conceptual Model
Please note that there was an error in estimating the mass remaining in the original Iso-
concentration lanes from the Site Conceptual Model Micrograms were converted to grams, but
. grams were not converted to kilograms The original masses remaining were reported 1,000 times
too high
I
2
