PHSIEHD concurs with this statement. A more detailed interpretation of
submitted data indicates that MW-2 and MW-3 have been non detect since installation. The two
groundwater samples obtained from VW-3 have produced consistent analytical results of TPH-g in
the range of 280-290 ppb. The well consistently producing the most concentrated analytical
results is MW-1.
Analytical benzene concentrations in MW-1 range from 20,000 ppb to 730 ppb. Analytical results
seem to be producing a random pattern, rather then any discernible trend, towards becoming
either more concentrated or less concentrated. MW-1 also is the downgradient well for the site
(gradient is trending north and east) and is approximately 45 feet from the eastern property
boundary. An additional monitoring well at the eastern property boundary, downgradient of MW-1,
may provide data from which a lateral degradation rate and an approximate plume length may be
estimated.
PHSIEHD requires additional assessment to determine the lateral and vertical extent of the
petroleum hydrocarbon groundwater plume which appears to originate at this site. In order to
remain in compliance with Article 11 Regulations, PHSIEHD recommends that you or your
consultant submit a workplan which will describe a method to assess the extent of this plume by
September 22, 1997.
For additional information please contact Steven Sasson, Senior R.E.H.S., at(209)468-3459
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
yirnmeSassdi, ,RrEHS MarganiO Lagorio, REHSS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
c: RWQCB, Central Valley Region - Elizabeth Thayer
c: Katherine Bevanda
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
