I <br /> U � a <br /> • October 6, 2004 <br /> Ms Vicki McCartney, RENSr 2186 <br /> Unit TV-Site Mitigation 06 a3 <br /> San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department SIFF— <br /> 304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor <br /> Stockton, California 95202-2708 <br /> Re Remedial Investigation and Well Installation Report p uJ A `" <br /> ARCO Station No.2186 <br /> t <br /> 3212 North California Street X J� <br /> Stockton, California 95204 <br /> Dear Ms McCartney <br /> On behalf of Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO — a BP affiliated company), URS Corporation <br /> Americas (URS) has prepared this report to document the installation of one deep groundwater <br /> monitoring well, one soil vapor extraction (SVE) well, and one air sparging (AS) well at ARCO Station <br /> No 2186 at 3212 North California Street in Stockton, California (Figure 1) The deep groundwater <br /> monitoring well was installed to characterize the vertical extent of gasoline-related petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons, as requested by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD) in <br /> the letter dated November 17, 2003 (Attachment A) <br /> The work was completed as proposed in the URS Work Plan for Groundwater Monitoring and <br /> Remediation Well Installation, dated February 13, 2004, and the URS Work Plan Addendum for Aar <br /> Sparging Well Installation, dated April 6, 2004 The work plan and work plan addendum were approved <br /> in the SJCEHD letters dated March 22 and April 12, 2004 (Attachment A) The SJCEHD well <br /> installation permit is included as Attachment B <br /> SITE BACKGROUND <br /> The site is located on the corner of North California Street and Alpine Street in Stockton, California <br /> (Figures 1 and 2) The locations of the existing underground storage tank (UST) pad, dispenser (pump) <br /> islands, and other selected site features are shown on Figure 2 The site currently operates as a gasoline <br /> service station and mini-mart Facilities include two 20,000-gallon, double-wall fiberglass gasoline <br /> USTs with associated product lines, and two dispenser islands (Figure 2) <br /> Environmental work completed at the site in previous investigations to date includes the following <br /> • August—September 1995 EMCON supervised the drilling of six vertical soil borings (13-1, B-3, <br /> B-4, B-5, B-7, and B-8) and two 45-degree angle borings (13-2 and B-6) Three borings (B-1, B- <br /> 4, and B-5) were converted to monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-3, respectively) Three <br /> URS Group Inc <br /> Crown Corporate Center <br /> 2870 Gateway Oaks Drive Suite 300 <br /> Sacramento CA 95833 <br /> Tel 916 679 2000 <br /> Fax 916 679 2900 K 1Wprocess\J5 BP ARC010218612004 AssessmenAReport 04 doc <br />
