1
1 INTRODUCTION
' At the request of ARCO Products Company (ARCO), EMCON conducted a preliminary
subsurface investigation at ARCO Service Station No. 2186, located at 3212 North
California Street, Stockton, California. The purpose of this investigation was to evaluate
whether site activities associated with the underground storage tanks (USTs) and fuel
dispensers have impacted the soil and groundwater beneath the site.
The work performed included drilling six vertical and two angle soil borings, installing
three groundwater monitoring wells, developing and purging the wells, installing three
duel-completion vapor extraction wells, and collecting soil and groundwater samples for
' analyses of hydrocarbon constituents. Data gathered during the investigation were used to
evaluate the extent of residual hydrocarbons in soil, assess whether groundwater
underlying the site has been affected by hydrocarbons, and evaluate the groundwater flow
direction and gradient. This report summarizes the tasks performed during this
investigation, includes the Iaboratory results, and presents our interpretations and
conclusions.
rr
1
1
1 '
r
SAC\N:\P70\0805\D8051470.1BS-95\pas:I Rev.0,216196 j
0805-147.01 _1
