RESNA ., WATERWORK CORP.
INDUSTRIES
June 18, 1991
V SUN 1 1991
Mr. Mike Inferna
San Joaquin County Public Health Services,
Environmental Health Division
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Re: St. Joseph' s Medical Center, 1800 N. California
St. , Stockton, CA - Stockpiled Soil
Dear Mr. Inferna:
I am writing to follow up today ' s phone conversation and my
letter of June 17.
As we discussed, use of the stockpiled soil resulting from exca-
vation at the referenced site for "road base" is the most sensi-
ble and cost effective option available. Due, however, to the
possibility that agency approval cannot be secured quickly other
options may be pursued. These include:
1) Temporary storage of the material on a paved lot approximate-
ly 100 feet south of the current location of the soil pile. The
soil will be both underlain and covered with plastic sheeting
pending additional analysis, if necessary, and ultimate disposal
or treatment. It is my understanding that you have visited this
lot and have given your conditional approval to this option.
2) Temporary storage of the material on a vacant lot located at
St. Joseph' s Behavioral Health Center, 2510 N. California St. ,
Stockton, CA. This facility is owned by St. Joseph ' s Medical
Center and is approximately one quarter mile north of the current
location of the soil pile. You may be familiar with it. Once
again, the soil will be underlain and covered with plastic sheet-
ing pending ultimate treatment or disposal. If you would like to
scout the site please contact Mr. Jerry Cotton at St. Joseph' s
Medical Center.
3) Haul the material directly to a class II landfill. This
option depends upon acceptance of the material by the landfill.
Forward landfill will require a biotreatability analysis and
additional analysis for EPA 8240 constituents. Approval for ac-
ceptance will require some weeks.
1710 MAIN STREET • ESCALON, CA 95320 • (209) 838-3507
2350-A WALSH AVENUE • SANTA CLARA, CA 95051 • (408)496-1249
