Shelby Lathrop / ConocoPhillips
16470 Cambridge Drive, Lathrop
SCM comment Page 2
Please determine the construction details of the Lathrop Grammar School
irrigation well. Based on the inlet point or screened interval(s) of this well, EHD
recommends that an additional monitoring well be installed that has a screened
interval at the same depth of the irrigation inlet area. This 'sentinel well' should
be placed between the irrigation well and the down-gradient edge (north) of the
ConocoPhillips ground water petroleum plume. This sentinel well, in addition to
the irrigation well, should be sampled and analyzed for petroleum constituents at
least twice a year. The installation of this sentinel well may be included in the
work plan due at EHD by September 30, 2005 or it may be installed later after
deep ground water data has been evaluated.
Please take adequate steps now to ensure that access for the irrigation well
sampling events will not be a problem in the future. Please notify EHD
immediately if petroleum is detected in the samples from this irrigation well.
You may contact Michael Infurna at (209) 468-3454 if you have any questions or
wish to discuss the site.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Department
Michael J.
