A Member of rhe I I C roup <br /> r^ <br /> March 13, 2001 T" <br /> Projec,t 911-005 1C <br /> Mr Edward C Ralston <br /> Tosco Marketing Company <br /> 1380 Lead Hili Road, Suite 120 <br /> Roseville, California 95661 w <br /> Re Off-Site Assessment Report <br /> Tosco (Circle K) Store #1205 <br /> 16470 Cambridge Street <br /> Lathrop, California <br /> Dt,ar Mr Ralston <br /> On behalf of Tosco Marketing Company (Tosco), IT Corporation (IT) is providing this Off <br /> Site Assessment Report describing the recent soil and groundwater investigation conducted <br /> at the site referenced above (Figure 1) The purpose of this work was to define the <br /> horizontal extent of gasoline hydrocarbons m soil and groundwater The assessment scope <br /> included the installation and sampling of five groundwater monitoring wells (MW-5 through <br /> MW-9) at on-site and off-site locations <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The site is an active Circle K Facility located at 16420 Cambridge Street in Lathrop, <br /> California On November 10, 1997 three underground storage tanks (USTs), product <br /> dispensers, and associated product lines were removed from the site Approximately 1,241 <br /> tons of hydrocarbon-impacted soil was removed from beneath the USTs and m the area of <br /> the new UST pit and transported to Forward Landfill in Manteca for disposal In addition, <br /> approximately 17,000 gallons of hydrocarbon-impacted groundwater were removed from <br /> the new UST pit and transported to a permitted facility for treatment <br /> Soil samples collected from beneath, the former UST complex were reported to contain <br /> concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g) ranging from 130 to <br /> 5,800 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) Benzene was reported m two of the six samples at <br /> concentrations of 0 52 and 3 6 mg/kg Methyl tertiary butyl ether (MtBE) was reported in <br /> two of the six samples at concentrations of 0 19 and 3.6 mg/kg Total lead was not detected <br /> in any of the samples analyzed <br />
