A Member of The IT Croup <br /> May 15,2000 <br /> Project 911-005 1C <br /> N FED <br /> Mr Ed Ralston <br /> Tosco Marketing Company �,`� 2.0 <br /> 1380 Lead Hill Road, Suite 120 <br /> Roseville, CA 95661 r�ly�lIRON E sevkNA �S <br /> PERM <br /> Re Work Plan for Additional Site Assessment <br /> Circle K Service Station#1205 <br /> 16470 Cambridge Street <br /> Lathrop, California <br /> Dear Mr Ralston <br /> This letter, prepared by IT Corporation (IT) on behalf of Tosca Marketing Company (Tosco), <br /> presents a work plan describing proposed additional site assessment work at the site referenced <br /> above (Figure 1) The purpose of this work is to define the horizontal extent of gasoline <br /> hydrocarbons in soil and groundwater on and off-site This will be accomplished by completing <br /> five groundwater monitoring wells (MW-5 through MW-9) <br /> This work plan includes a brief discussion of site background, previous investigations, proposed <br /> scope of work, and schedule Field and laboratory procedures are presented as Attachment B <br /> SITE BACKGROUND AND PREVIOUS INVESTIGATIONS <br /> The site is an active Circle K Facility located at 164'0 Cambridge Street in Lathrop, California <br /> On November 10, 1997 three underground storage tanks (USTs), product dispensers, and <br /> associated product lines were removed from the site Approximately 1,241 tons of hydrocarbon- , <br /> impacted soil was removed from beneath the USTs and in the area of the new UST pit and <br /> transported to Forward Landfill in Manteca for disposal In addition, approximately 17,000 <br /> gallons of hydrocarbon-impacted groundwater were removed from the new UST pit and <br /> transported to a permitted facility for treatment <br /> Soil samples collected from beneath the former UST complex were reported to contain <br /> concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g) ranging from 130 to 5,800 <br /> milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) Benzene was reported in two of the six samples at <br /> concentrations of 0 52 and 3 6 mg/kg Methyl tertiary butyl ether (MtBE) was reported in two of <br /> • the six samples at concentrations of 0 19 and 3 6 mg/kg Total lead was not detected in any of <br /> the samples analyzed <br />
