AQUIFER PUW TEST
On 20,21 and 24 July 2000, aquifer draw-down pump testing was performed at the site to evaluate
' general ground water aquifer charactenstics and to evaluate ground water draw-down at various
pumping rates
41 FIRST ZONE AQUIFER PUMP TESTS, 20 AND 24 JULY 2000
' The first stage of constant rate ground water pump testing consisted of extracting ground water
utilizing a Grundfos Redi-Flo pump from EW-2 in the Fust Zone Aquifer at a rate of 4 0 GPM, the
second stage consisted of extracting ground water at a rate of 6 6 GPM, the third stage consisted of
extracting ground water at a rate of 10 GPM
The first stage pump test (4 GPM) consisted of extracting ground water from well EW-2 utilizing
a 2-inch diameter submersible Grundfos Redi-flo pump and was terminated after 90-minutes of
pumping when the pump malfunctioned by over-heating The second stage pump test(6 6 GPM)was
initiated by extracting ground water from well EW-2 for 600 minutes utilizing a 4-mch diameter
submersible Grundfos Redi-flo pump, the test was terminated after 600 minutes of ground water
extraction because the 5,900-gallon Baker tank was at full capacity The third stage pump test (10
' GPM) consisted of extracting ground water from well EW-2 utilizing the 4-inch diameter
submersible Grundfos Redi-flo pump and was terminated after 120 minutes of groundwater
extraction because the 5,900-gallon Baker tank was at full capacity The pump test utilized pressure
' transducers that were deployed in wells MW-1,EW-1,EW-2 and EW-3 A plot of draw-down versus
{ time for the first, second and third stage of pump testing are included in Appendix G
Draw-down versus distance for wells MW-1, EW-1 and EW-2 were graphed on seam-logarithmic
paper for pump test stages 1, 2 and 3, utilizing the Time-Drawdown Method (Jadob straight-line
' method),the transmissivity and storativity for aquifer pump test stages 1,'2 and 3 were determined
(Appendix F) Ground water levels in wells EW-3, MW-6A and MW-9A did not appear to be
influenced during the pump tests
' During the first stage pump test(4 0 GPM), the greatest ground water drawn-down in extraction well
EW-2 was observed at 5 25 feet after 50 minutes of pumping operation, draw-down was observed
' in wells EW-1 (located 11 feet towards the north-northwest) at 0 92 feet and iii MW-1 (located 7 feet
towards the north) at 0 90 feet Minor decreases in ground water levels in well EW-3 (located'4 feet
towards the west and screened 40 to 50 feet bsg)were observed at as much as 0 07 feet, in MW-6A
' (located 73 feet towards the south) at as much as 0 03 feet and in MW-9A (located 45 feet towards
. the west-southwest) at as much as 0 02 feet Results of the stage 1 pump test ground water draw-
down levels are summarized in Table 2 Utilizing data collected from well EW-1,EW-2 and MW--1,
Advanced GeoCaviroomentai,Inc.
1 ,
