31 August 2000 <br /> AGE Project No 96-0232 <br /> Page 23 of 25 <br />' vessels for monitoring purposes A generalized design of the treatment system is depicted in Figure <br /> 9 <br />' 6 2 1 Ground Water Extraction Well Installation <br />' Installation of seven ground water extraction wells is proposed utilizing a limited access truck- <br /> mounted drill ng equipped with 12-inch diameter hollow stem augers Hollow stem augers will be <br /> cleaned prior to advancement in each borehole The wells will be advanced to depths of <br />' approximately 35 feet bsg and completed with 6-inch diameter, schedule 40 PVC well casing <br /> emplaced through the hollow stem augers Each well will utilize twenty-five feet of slotted well <br /> casing (0 020-inch screen size) from 10 to 35 feet bsg A #3 Lonestar Lapis Luster sand will be <br />' poured down the annulus between the well casing and the inner wall of the hollow stem auger The <br /> filter pack will be placed adjacent to the screen from the bottom of the boring to a point <br /> approximately 2 feet above the top of the screen A nominal three-foot interval of bentonite pellets <br />' (annular seal)will be placed above the filter pack Portland cement will be utilized to grout from the <br /> annular seal to surface grade A ground water extraction well construction diagram is depicted in <br />'• Figure 12 <br />' 6 2 2 Ground Water Extraction Piping System <br /> A network of two-inch diameter, schedule 80 PVC piping will be installed in a series of trenches <br />' approximately 1 foot wide by 1'/2 feet deep The PVC piping will be routed from each ground water <br /> extraction well head to a water holding tank, the holding tank will be directly connected to the GAC <br /> - Sunsolve ground water treatment system A plan of the proposed piping system and enclosed unit <br />' location are depicted in Figure 10 <br /> The location of the ground water pump and treat system is proposed to be near the southwest comer, <br />' of the site(Figure 3) This proposed location of the pump and treat system will allow the Flag City <br /> Chevron facility to conduct their day-to -day business without interference from the operation of the ' <br /> remediation system The pump and treat system will be secured by a chain-linked, gated enclosure <br />' approximately 15 feet wide, 30 feet long and seven feet high <br /> Electricity is readily available to the site A dedicated electrical meter will be installed by <br />' representatives of P G &E that will connect directly to the pump and treat system <br />' 6 2 3 Discharge Piping System <br /> AGE plans to mstall a 4-inch diameter, schedule 80 polyvinylchlonde (PVC) pipe underground <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental,inc <br /> 1 <br />
