15 July 2002
{ AGE -NC Project No 96-0232
vaned between 19 4 and 210 degrees Celsius ('01 The laboratory reported that there were two fish
mortalities after 96 hours in the above referenced sample, laboratory analysis of a duplicate effluent
sample reported two fish mortalities after 96 hours The bioassay analysis is summarized in Table 3,
laboratory reports are in Appendix C
Utilizing an ICM water analyzer in the field, EC values were monitored on 16 April, 22 May and 13
June 2002 at 945 µmhos/cm, 896 µmhos/cm and 792 µmhos/cm, respectively, pH values were
monitored at 7 44, 7 48 and 7 34, respectively, and temperature values at 19 8 °C, 20 4 °C and
20 3 °C, respectively Field monitoring results are summarized in Table 2
Utilizing a Blue -White industries F-2000 flow meter, flow rates were measured and recorded on 16
April, 22 May and 13 June 2002 at 23 58 GPM, 20 24 GPM and 24 88 GPM, between 01 April and
30 June 2002, field observations of effluent -flow rates were generally recorded between 19 14 GPM
and 24 88 GPM (Appendix A)
2 6 RECEIVING WATER MONITORING RESULTS
In accordance with the requirements of RWQCB Monitoring and Reporting Program No 5-00-119,
monthly ground water pump -and -treat receiving water (R-1 and R-2) monitoring was performed for
total dissolved solids, flow rate, specific conductivity (EC), pH and turbidity on 16 April, 22 May
and 13 June 2002, observations noted in a log book (Appendix A) included floating or suspended
matter, discoloration, bottom deposits, aquatic life, visible film -sheen -coatings, Rmgi and potential
nuisance conditions
Utilizing a Global flow probe, the height of water at R-1 and R-2 was measured at approximately
2 feet at a diameter of 5 feet, water velocity at R-1 was measured at approximately 4 0 feet per
second (ftls) on 22 May 2002 and at 3 2 ft/s on 13 June 2002, or approximately 13,168 gallons per
minute (GPM) and 10,535 GPM, respectively Water monitoring could not be performed from R-1
during the 16 April 2002 monthly monitoring events because there was no upstream water flow
Water velocity at R-2 was measured at approximately 5 0 ftJs on 22 May and on 13 June 2002, or
approximately 16,460 GPM Because there was no upstream flow at R-1 on 16 April 2002, the
downstream flow rate at R-2 appeared to be equal to the ground water pump and treat effluent flow
rate of approximately 23 5 GPM
Observations logged in a notebook during the 16 April (only R-2), May 22 and 13 June 22
monitoring events indicate that there was no floating or suspended matter, discoloration, bottom
deposits or visible film -sheen -coatings at R-1 or R-2, however there was a small amount of algae
growth at the bottom of the ditch Visible aquatic life at R-1 and R-2 included minnows, insects and
Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
