' 30 October 2003
AGE-NC Project No 96-0232
' there was no upstream flow at R-1, the downstream flow rate at R-2 appeared to be equal to the
ground water pump and treat effluent flow rate of approximately 20 to 25 GPM
' Observations logged in a notebook on the above dates indicated that there was no floating or
suspended matter, discoloration, bottom deposits or visible film-sheen-coatings at R-2,`however
there was a small amount of algae growth at the bottom of the ditch Visible aquatic life at R-2
' included minnows, insects and frogs Potential nuisance conditions observed at R-2 included trash
in ditch(i a fast food containers, paper and dry bush cuttings),no potential nuisance conditions were
observed at R-1
Utilizing an ICM water analyzer and a YSI-50 dissolved oxygen meter in the field, dissolved oxygen
was monitored at R-2 on the above dates at concentrations between 3 76 mg/1 and 4 20 mg/l, EC
values were recorded on the same days between 712 µmhos/cm and 805 gmhos/cm,pH values were
recorded at between 6 86 and 7 70, temperatures were measured at between 21 6 °C and 25 9 °C
Laboratory analysis ofR-2 grab water samples collected during the above monthly momtonng events
reported turbidity values at concentrations between 0 3 and 1 0 nephelometric turbidity p b ity units
(NTUs), a TDS value of 571 mg/1 was reported on 15 September 2003 Analytical results are
summarized in Table 2, field measurements and Iaboratory reports are in Appendix C
2 7 MASS-VOLUME REMOVAL CALCULATIONS
I Based on effluent flow meter observations (Appendix A, Table 8), approximately 835,840 gallons
of MTBE-impacted water were treated during the third quarter 2003, a total volume of
approximately 22,425,645 gallons of MTBE-impacted water has been treated at the site since the
start-up period m November 2000
The volume of extracted water between 25 June and 25 July 2003 was equal to 346,816 gallons,
which equates to a mass of 2,891,405 pounds of processed water Multiplying the average MTBE
concentration (assumed to be 18 µg/1 based on the average of the June and the July 2003 influent
grab water samples)by the pounds of extracted MTBE-impacted ground water yields approximately
0 05 pounds of MTBE removed from MTBE-impacted ground water during this period
(Appendix D)
The volume of extracted water between 25 July and 29 August 2003 was equal to 317,601 gallons,
which equates to a mass of 2,647,840 pounds of processed water Multiplying the average MTBE
concentration(assumed to be 18 5 gg/l based on the average ofthe July and the August 2003 influent
grab water samples)by the pounds of extracted MTBE-impacted ground water yields approximately
0 05 pounds of MTBE removed from MTBE-impacted ground water during this period
(Appendix D)
I
Advanced GeoEnvironinental,inc
I
