' 11 August 2003
S AGE-NC Project No 96-0232
' The volume of extracted water between 25 March and 21 April 2003 was equal to 701,055 gallons,
which equates to a mass of 5,844,696 pounds of processed water Multiplying the average MTBE
concentration(assumed to be 66 µg/l based on the average of the March and April 2003 influent grab
' water samples) by the pounds of extracted MTBE-impacted ground water yields approximately
0 39 pounds of MTBE removed from MTBE-impacted ground water during this period
(Appendix D)
' The volume of extracted water between 21 Apnl and 14 May 2003 was equal to 245,406 gallons,
which equates to a mass of 2,045,950 pounds of processed water Multiplying the average MTBE
' concentration(assumed to be 43 µg/1 based on the average of the April and May 2003 influent grab
water samples) by the pounds of extracted MTBE-impacted ground water yields approximately
0 09 pounds of MTBE removed from MTBE-impacted ground water during this period
' (Appendix D)
The volume of extracted water between 14 May and 25 June 2003 was equal to 1.144,208 gallons,
' which equates to a mass of 9,539,262 pounds of processed water Multiplying the average MTBE
concentration(assumed to be 27 µg/1 based on the average of the May and June 2003 influent grab
water samples) by the pounds of extracted MTBE-impacted ground water yields approximately
' • 0 26 pounds of MTBE removed from MTBE-impacted ground water during this period
(Appendix D)
fDuring the second quarter 2003, an estimated 0 74 pounds of MTBE was extracted from ground
water,to date, the ground water treatment system has removed a total of approximately 12 16 pounds
' of MTBE from extracted ground water (Table 8) Second quarter 2003 mass-volume calculations
of MTBE-impacted ground water extracted from the ground water pump-and-treat system are
presented in Appendix D Plots of cumulative ground waterpump and treat mass removal trends and
' influent ground water MTBE concentrations versus time are in Appendix E
' 3.0. GROUND WATER MONITORING AND SAMPLING
On 24 through 27 June 2003, ground water monitoring and sampling were performed at 35 ground
water monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-18) and at ten ground water extraction wells (EW-1
through EW-10), in addition, grab water samples were collected from two San Joaquin County
service area No 31 municipal water wells (CSA-1 and CSA-2) on 27 June 2003 Quarterly ground
water monitoring procedures for the site were outlined in the AGE-prepared Work Plan Addendum,
dated 28 January 1998,and approved by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
(SJCEHD) by letter dated 24 February 1998 As-built monitoring well construction details are
summarized in Table 9
Advanced GeoEnvironmentai,Inc
I
