. Final Remediation Pian Addendum
FLAG CITY CHEVRON
6421. Capitol Avenue, Lodi, California
1.0. INTRODUCTION
At the request of Mr Richard Bokides of the Bokides Family Limited Partnership, Advanced
GeoEnvironmental,Inc (AGE)has prepared this addendum to Final Remediation Plan (FRP), dated
31 August 2000, for 6421 Capitol Avenue, Lodi, California (the site) This FRP addendum is
prepared as required by California Regional Water Quality Control Board-Central Valley Region
(RWQCB) directive letters dated 08 August and 07 November 2001 (Appendix A) The site setting
is Illustrated on Figure 1 Site structures and well locations are depicted on Figure 2
The purpose of the FRP addendum is to detail the design, installation and operation of an off-site
ground water extraction and treatment system for methyl-tertiary butyl ether (MTBE)-Impacted
ground water
2.0 ON-SITE GROUND WATER EXTRACTION AND TREATMENT
Since November 2000, AGE has been continuously operating a ground water extraction and
treatment system at the Flag City Chevron site, the treatment system operation and maintcriance
procedures for the site were detailed in Final Remediation Plan, dated 31 August 2000,prepared by
AGE and approved by the RWQCB by letter dated 05 October 2000 Since November 2000, treated
water has been discharged to the Coldani irrigation ditch (located approximately 450 feet south of
the site) at a flow rate of approximately 23 GPM under RWQCB General Order 5-00-119 for
discharge to surface waters of ground water from clean-up of petroleum fuel pollution
As outlined in the FRP, the Flag City Chevron ground water pump-and-treat system is designed to
operate at a maximum flow rate of 25 gallons per minute (GPM) Selected on-site extraction wells
were adjusted at each well-head to extract ground water from selected wells at a flow rate of
approximately 5 to 6 GPM, the extracted ground water has been routed through a ground water
treatment system consisting of granular activated carbon (GAC) and Sunsolve, a patented material
that has an affinity to absorb MTBE
During the ground water pump-and-treat start-up period, dissolved MTBE was detected in grab water
samples collected at the influent end of the treatment system at concentrations as high as 1,100
micrograms per liter(/,tg/1),however,between December 2000 and September 2001, the influent end
MTBE concentrations have steadily decreased to concentrations as low as 7 ,ug/l (Table 1) During
operation of the pump-and-treat system, laboratory analysis of effluent-end water samples have not
detected any constituents of concern
• AGE estimates that a total volume of 9,000,000 gallons of MTBE-impacted water has been treated
and discharged to the Coldani ditch since initiation of the ground water pump-and-treat remediation
Advanced CeoEnviranmental,Inc
