T <br /> ' 4 <br /> f <br /> 01 May 2000 <br /> • AGE-NC Project No 96-0232 <br /> PaYge 2 of 11 <br /> I' evaluate general ground water aquifer characteristics and to evaluate ground water draw-down at <br /> various pumping rates <br /> 2 1 GROUND WATER PUMP TEST PROCEDURES <br /> The pump test consisted of extracting ground water from well MW-1 utilizing a 2-inch diameter <br /> Grundfos Redi-flo pump The extracted ground water was pumped into a 5,900-gallon aboveground <br /> t Baker storage tank The pump test utilized pressure transducers that were deployed in well MW-1 <br /> Y at a depth of 181/2 feet bsg and in wells MW-2, MW-4 and MW-6A at a depth of 14'/2 feet bsg The , <br /> pressure transducers were utilized to measure the difference in ground water levels during ground <br /> water pumping, ground water level measurements were continuously recorded utilizing an Aquistar, <br /> data logger (see Appendix A) <br /> The first stage of the pump test consisted of pumping ground water at a rate of 4 3 gallons per minute <br /> " (GPM), the second stage of the pump test consisted of pumping ground water at a rate of 3 5 GPM, <br /> the third stage of the pump test consisted of pumping ground water at a rate of 3 GPM Ground water <br /> pumping flow rate was determined by measuring the time required to fill a 5-gallon bucket from the <br /> pumping dischai ae hose Prior to initiating stages two and three, groundwater was allo\N ed to fully <br /> recharge in all observed wells to original ground water levels prroi to pumping <br /> f 1 5 <br /> Draw-down versus time far well MW-1 was graphed on semi-logrithinic paper for stages 1 2 and <br /> 3 of the pump test (Appendix B) Utilizing the Tacob straight-line method, the transmissivity for each <br /> Istage of the pump test was determined (Appendix C) Ground water levels fi om wells MW-2, MW-4 ' <br /> and MW-6A did not appear to be influenced during the pump test <br /> 1 <br /> 22 GROUND WATER PUIMP TEST RESULTS <br /> , I , <br /> Prior to pumping for the first stage of the pump test, a baseline static ground water level fiorn MW-1 <br /> was recoi ded at 6 49 feet bsg During the first stage of the pump test (pump rate at 4 3 GPM), ground <br /> water was drawn below the,pressure transducer in MW-1 after 19 minutes of pumping operation, no 1 <br /> measurable draw-down was observed from wells MW„-2'(located 120 feet towards the east), MW-4 <br /> (located 95 feet towards the north) or MW-6A (located 75 feet towards the south) during the first <br /> step of the pump test A transmissivity value frons well MW-1 was calculated at 135 gal/day-ft <br /> 1 <br /> Prior to pumping actin rues for the second stage,of the pump test, a baseline static ground water level <br /> from MW-1 vas recorded at 6 50 feet bsg During the second stage of the pump test (pump rate at <br /> • 3 5 GPM), the greatest ground water draw-down was observed at 6 91 feet after 11 minutes of <br />' pumping operation, due to an equipment malfunction, the test was terminated after 1 l minutes of <br /> I <br /> Adiairccd CcoEn%ironmenfal,inc <br /> r <br /> r <br />
