20 March 2000
AGE-NC Project No 96-0232
3 1 RELATIVE GROUND WATER ELEVATION AND GRADIENT
Dunng the February 2000 monitonng event, depths to ground water from Flag City Chevron wells
MW-1,MW-2,MW-4, MW-5, MW-6A,MW-6B and MW-7 were measured between 5 95 and 7 48
feet below the tops of the well casings, ground water elevations were calculated to be between 2 04
feet and 2 33 feet above mean sea level Ground water elevation at the site increased an average 3 84
feet between the June 1999 and the February 2000 ground water monitonng events The ground
water elevation data collected on 25 February 2000 from the Flag City Chevron site and the adjacent
Three B's Truck Plaza site is depicted in Figure 3
Ground water monitoring data collected in the area of Flag City Chevron monitonng wells MW-1,
MW-2, MW-4, MW-5, MW-6A, MW-613 and MW-7 indicated that the ground water flow direction
was generally ranging from the east-northeast to the east-southeast at an average gradient of 0 001
ftlft, or approximately 5 feet per mile (Figure 3) Ground water was approximately 36 feet above the
screen interval at MW6-13
Ground water monitonng data collected in the area of Three B's Truck Plaza monitoring wells
MW-1,MW-2,MW-3, MW-4,MW-5 and MW-6 indicated that the ground water flow direction was
generally toward the east-northeast-southeast at an average gradient of 0 003 ft/ft, or approximately
16 feet per mile (Figure 3)
32 LABORATORY RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
During the February 2000 sampling event, TPH-g was detected in the ground water sample collected
from MW-2 at a concentration of 66 micrograms per liter(,ug/1) and from the storm drain (FCSD-1)
at a concentration of 150 /.cg/l TPH-d was detected in water sample FCSD-1 at a concentration of
1,500 /-ig/l
BTEX compounds were detected in water samples collected from MW-2 and FCSD-1 at
concentrations as high as 2 3 /,g/l
MTBE was detected in ground water samples collected from MW-1, MW-2, MW-4, MW-5,
MW-6A, MW-613, MW-7 and FCSD-1, utilizing EPA Method 8020, at concentrations as high as
1,100 µg11, MTBE was confirmed in the same water samples, utilizing EPA Method 8260, at
concentrations as high as 2,100 µg/l, no other fuel oxygenates were detected above laboratory
reporting limits MTBE was detected in the domestic drinking water well sample (Rocky's
Restaurant) utilizing EPA Method 8020 and confirmed utilizing EPA Method 8260 at a
concentration of 7 7 µg/1 Dissolved MTBE data collected on 25 February 2000 from the Flag City
Chevron site and the adjacent Three B's Truck Plaza site is contoured in Figure 4
Advanced GcoEn\lronmental,Inc
