24 August 1998
AGE-NC Project No 96-0232 _
` x x
Eapproved model 17H 55-gallon drums and was stored on-site in an area lacking public access 3
t
t
2 3 QUARTERLY MONITORING AND SAMPLING ACTIVITIES
On 06 July 1998, quarterly ground water monitoring and sampling was performed Ground water
depths and total well depths were measured in wells MW-I through MW-7 to the nearest 0 01-foot
utilizing a Solinst water level meter Relative ground water elevations were calculated by subtracting
the depth to ground water from the surveyed casing elevations (Table 2) Ground water elevations
were plotted and contoured on a scaled site map (Figure 8)
„ t
After water levels were measured, a minimum of three well volumes of ground water were purged
from wells MW-1 through MW-7 by hand bailing and using a two-stage submersible pump Ground
water stabilization parameters, including temperature,pH and conductivity, were measured at regular
' purge volume intervals utilizing an ICM model 52200 water analyzer Stabilization data and field
logs are contained in Appendix C Purged ground water was stored in 55-gallon drums on-site in an
area lacking public access
The ground water levels from monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-7 achieved a minimum of 80
percent recharge prior to sample collection Ground water samples were collected utilizing
disposable polyethylene bailers Upon retrieval, each sample was transferred to EPA-approved 40-m1
VOA vials, containing 0 5 ml 18% hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative, and 1-liter amber
bottles Care was taken to ensure that visible air bubbles were not present in the VOAs after filling
and"capping Ground water sample containers were labeled with the well designation, date, time, and `
sampler's initials
Following collection, each sample was logged on a chain-of-custody form, placed in a chilled
11
container and transported to a DTSC-certified Iaboratoryfor the following analysis
•
TPH-g and TPH-d in accordance with EPA Method 8015M,
• BTEX and MTBE in accordance with EPA Method 602; and
• Fuel oxygenates in accordance with EPA Method 8260
t
3.0. FINDINGS
Results of field observations and laboratory analysis of soil and ground water samples are reported
and discussed in the following sections.
Advanced GeoEnvaronmental,ine
u
