Food Service Installations <br /> AIR BALANCE TEST <br /> EXHAUST HOOD FILTER CALCULATIONS <br /> a 05/11/2015 <br /> To: Jeff Wong, R E H S <br /> On the above day I performed an air balance test for a Hood for Raimond Narvasian @ <br /> Wingstop Restaurants @ 2640 Reynolds Ranch Pkwy 4100 in Lodi, CA 95240 <br /> fx <br /> The Hood that was tested is a(ETL)ND Captive Aire Hood measuring 12' X 4.0'with <br /> a total of(8)Kleen Guard filters which are rated at 100 to 800 CFM per filter. We fiave <br /> (16"*20")with a usable average area of (1.73 SF)each with a total filter area for this hood of <br /> }i 15.57 square feet. I found the average FPM flowing thru these filters was(3,128/9/ 1.73 = <br /> --,202.8 FPM per filter which is with in the stated range stated above. The average air flow <br /> t* (CFM)thru each filter, in this hood, is 347.5 CFM. <br /> This particular hood is design rated to operate @(12.0)Length x 250 CFM per filter which <br /> equals 3,000.CEM. The(ETL)ND hood has a minimum required air flow of(12.0) length x <br /> 2000 FPM_ 2,400,but can operate efficiently at maximum air flow as high as required by the <br /> UMC code at 100A which is(12.0) length x 400 FPM per foot, which would be 4,800 CFM IF <br /> THE EXISTING DUCT CAN ACCOMADE IT. <br /> This hood is operating slightly(4%) beyond the design range of the Captive Aire ETL. This <br /> Hood average FPM is(202.8 FPM)X(Net filter area of 1.73)=(346)times the number of fil- <br /> ters(9)=3,128+/-5%CFM. The duct size,on this hood, is 16"RND=201.4 square inches <br /> divided by 144 equals 1.4 square feet of duct area going to the roof The average CFM exhaust- <br /> ed by this hood is thru this duct 3,128 CFM/ 1.4= 1,984 FPM which is within the UMC range <br /> of 1500 to 2500 FPM per foot. The duct is within the 2 foot of centerline as required by ETL <br /> and is Fire Wrap as required.NO 90's were visible on the hood as it makes it way out of the <br /> building. <br /> The return air for this hood was @ 3,004 CFM+/- 5%which was returned thru(1)P S P Hood <br /> mounted diffuser( 16 * 156/ 144)= 17.3 Sq. Ft. of diffuser.
