SMTH
' PURPOSE AND PROPOSED WORKSCOPE
The purpose of this site investigation is to provide baseline soil and groundwater quality data for
' the site prior to the relocation of Olin Corporation to the site. To achieve this goal the following
scope of work is proposed:
• Drill and install three groundwater monitoring wells and one exploratory soil boring.
' • Analyze selected soil samples for priority metals, cyanide, semivolatile organics, volatile
organic compounds, chlorinated pesticides and PCBs, and total oil and grease.
' • Survey and develop the new wells, purge and collect samples from the monitoring wells
for analysis of priority metals, cyanide, semivolatile organics, volatile organic
' compounds, chlorinated pesticides and PCBs, and total oil and grease.
• Prepare a Site Assessment report.
The workplan below describes in detail each of the tasks to be completed to provide baseline soil
and groundwater quality data for the site. All work described in this workplan will be
performed in accordance with SMTH's field methods presented in Appendix I and with the Site
Safety Plan presented in Appendix II.
WORKPLAN
Task 1 Permitting and Scheduling
This task includes obtaining the necessary permits for drilling and well installation from San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, scheduling field personnel and equipment,
' locating underground utilities, and performing any other necessary field preparation and job
start-up activities. Copies of the permit application, the application fees, and owner permission
' will be submitted separate from this documentation.
Task 2 Drilling and Installation of Three Groundwater Monitoring Wells and One
Soil Exploratory Boring
' Three monitoring wells will be installed to depths of approximately 35 feet and one exploratory
soil boring will be advanced to a depth just above groundwater, approximately 23 feet, using 10-
IN:\951WREPORMOUN.
0-
N:\951WREPORMOUN.WP 3
