In response to your request for sampling the three
private water wells, this office does not have the equipment to
sample wells. Arrangements are being made to sample two of the
wells through Dr. Lynn Goldman of the Epidemiological Studies
Section in Berkeley. We do not have the name of the property
owner of 17 N. Carroll Avenue. Without permission from the
owner, the well can not be sampled. I understand you are trying
to get information on the current owner.
Additional soil sampling to investigate off-site drainage will
be performed by Marley's consultant J.H. Kleinfelder and
Associates. See the enclosed map for sampling locations. The
need for soil sampling in the main parking lot will be determined
after reviewing the results of the above sampling by Kleinfelder.
There does not appear to be a need to sample sawdust generated
currently, since the sawdust is not produced from treated wood.
Your request for an investigation of the off-site dump, owned by
Marley, has been referred to our Surveillance and Enforcement
Unit. The stamp pad ink used at Marley is Dri-Marquette,
purchased from Irwin-Hodson Company in Portland, Oregon.
If you have any other questions, please contact Marge Rouch at
(916) 739-3995 .
Sincerely,
r
Jeanine Jones, P.E.
Senior Waste Management Engineer
