Weber Avenue <br /> parallels the channel, with Center Street and El Dorado Street <br /> running North and South. *The West End was an area of Stockton's <br /> Central Business District that by the 1950s and 1960s had become <br /> quite economically depressed. This area was basically to the South <br /> of the Stockton Channel. It was the home for the "Skid Row" <br /> population in town, largely comprised of homeless men who abused <br /> alcohol. *In the mid 1960s, a redevelopment plan was adopted by the <br /> City of Stockton to clear about nine square blocks of land and <br /> rebuild. <br /> i <br /> i <br />
