(PACIFIC) on behalf of
Chevron Products Company (Chevron), documents the September 24, 1997 telephone
conversation between Roger Hoffmore with PACIFIC and yourself. The purpose of the
conversation was to address concerns stated in your September 17, 1997 letter. The San
Joaquin County Public Health Services - Environmental Health Division(PHS/EHD)
comments from the September 17, 1997 letter are in bold italics. PACIFIC's response
follows each comment.
1. PHS/EHD's correspondence dated June 3, 1997 stated that Chevron has not
demonstrated compliance with PHS/EHD's directives. PHS/EHD directed
Chevron since 1990 to define the extent of the soil and groundwater
contamination resulting from the operation of underground storage tanks. On
July 11, 1997, PHS/EHD issued two drilling permits to install an on site soil
boring at Chevron's request and to install an off site monitoring well in the
location Chevron selected which hopefully would have defined the downgradient
contaminant plume boundary. The proposed work did not include the installation
of any remediation wells necessary to perform feasibility analysis so that a
corrective action plan could be prepared.
11315 Sunrise Gold Circle, Suite M, Rancho Cordova, California 95742 (916)858-2350 FAX (916) 858-2355 /
