ACUTE TOXICITY <br /> Exposure Routes : The primary routes of exposure are inhalation of vapor <br /> and direct skin or eye contact with the liquid. <br /> Toxic Effect Levels : <br /> Inhalation human TCLO 200 ppm <br /> Inhalation man LCLO 10,000 ppm (for 6 h) <br /> Oral rat LC50 4 ,300 mg/kg <br /> Inhalation rat LC50 5,000 ppm (for 4 h) <br /> Signs and Symptoms <br /> Ingestion : Burning sensation in the mouth and throat. Other symptoms <br /> are same as those for inhalation (see below) , except that lung <br /> congestion will not usually develop. <br /> Inhalation: Irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat. At <br /> concentrations above 200 ppm nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, <br /> dizziness, staggering, drowsiness, severe breathing difficulties , and <br /> unconsciousness may occur. Vapor levels above 200 ppm may have an <br /> anesthetic effect. <br /> Skin : Irritation and defatting. <br /> Eyes: Irritation at concentrations of 200 ppm. <br /> Exposure Limits <br /> HA tandard(s ) : 100 ppm, 8—h TWA (skin)* <br /> NIOSH Recommended Limit(s ): 100 ppm, 8—h TWA <br /> 200 ppm, Ceiling (for 10 min) <br /> ACGIH Recommended Limit(s ): 100 ppm, 8—h TLV—TWA <br /> 150 ppm, STEL <br /> *Skin absorption may contribute to overall exposure. <br /> SECTION IV .
