December 19, 1997
Page 2 ``' lw'
groundwater contamination which resulted from Chevron's operation of underground
storage tanks at this site.
Three (rather than the originally proposed one) borings (with discrete soil and discrete
groundwater sampling capabilities)will be drilled, followed by three groundwater
monitoring wells to be installed at the same locations. Each boring for discete sampling
will be advanced to approximately 70 feet bgs. Water samples will be collected at
discrete intervals, in an effort to evaluate gasoline hydrocarbon impact to groundwater at
various depths. The locations of the proposed borings and wells are shown on the
attached Figure 2.
The work plan addendum should also propose the construction details of the off site
wells and any remediation wells which may be necessary to perform feasibility testing
so that a corrective action plan can be prepared
A general construction detail for the three proposed offsite wells is attached as Figure 3.
The actual screen interval length and depth may vary and will be selected based on the
discrete soil and discrete groundwater analytical results as well as lithologic information
collected during the drilling of the discrete sample borings.
The need for and type of corrective action at this site will be evaluated upon receipt of
the results from the work proposed above and from the evaluation of potential sensitive
receptors and offsite sources in the vicinity of the site. Once the potential risk to human
health and/or the environment has been assessed, a corrective action plan will be
developed. Well details for remedial wells will be provided if the need arises for the
construction of such wells.
The addendum and necessary permit applications along with permit fees must be
submitted by December 22, 1997, as well as proof that complete encroachment permit
applications have been submitted to the City of Stockton, to access their property to
perform the proposed off site investigation.
The County of San Joaquin permit application as well as a copy of the completed City of
Stockton encroachment permit application are attached as Attachment A. Permit fees
($89) are being sent under separate cover from our San Jose office to arrive on
December 22, 1997.
920-078.!A/WPADD.DOC
