February 13, 1998
Page 5
from Well MW-9, saturated coarser-grained units are expected to be
encountered at depths of approximately 45, 55, and 75 feet bgs. The
locations of depth discrete samples will be determined in the field.
The onsite boring will be advanced to a minimum depth of
approximately 75 feet bgs or until two consecutive nondetect soil
samples (approximately 5 feet apart), are collected. A PID will be
utilized to determine in the field whether the samples are nondetect.
The three offsite borings will be advanced to the depth of the
proposed onsite boring. The four proposed borings will be
backfilled with grout upon completing of drilling. Two generalized
geologic cross-sections, included as Figure 3, will be ammended
with stratigraphic information collected from the proposed borings.
• Soil and Groundwater Analysis. Selected soil and groundwater q
samples will be submitted to a California State-certified laboratory X v
and analyzed for the presence of TPH-g and BTEX compounds. A
minimum of three to four depth discrete groundwater samples per
boring (dependent on depth and number of coarser-grained saturated
units encountered)will be submitted for analysis. At a minimum, the
soil samples corresponding in depth to the submitted groundwater
samples, and a capillary fringe sample from each boring, will be
submitted for analysis. Additionally, a minimum of a soil sample
every 10 feet of the onsite boring, a sample collected at the total
depth of the onsite boring, and a sample approximately 5 feet above
total depth of the onsite boring, will be submitted for analysis.
• Report. A report will be prepared after completion of necessary
field work. The report will include boring logs, boring location map,
two generalized geologic cross-sections, soil and groundwater
analytical results, chain-of-custody documentation, and findings.
Field and laboratory procedures are presented as Attachment A.
I
Schedule
SECOR is prepared to initiate field work within 3 weeks following approval of this
work plan by the PHS/EHD and the securing of permits and offsite encroachment. A
report documenting the findings of the investigation is anticipated to be submitted
approximately 8 to 10 weeks after the completion of field work.
7G007-013-01/workplan
F
