Tests, as required herein, shall be made by <br /> and at the expense of the Owner. Tests for slump and air <br /> content shall be made in accordance with ACI 30, ASTM C143, <br /> and ASTM C231, respectively. Tests for slump and air <br /> content shall be performed on each truckload of concrete <br /> placed for the perimeter curb and gutter. All field <br /> testing (slump and air content), and the compression test <br /> specimens shall be the responsibility of the testing <br /> laboratory selected by the Owner. <br /> A set of three compression test cylinders shall be made from <br /> each truckload of concrete placed for the perimeter curb and <br /> gutter. One cylinder shall be broken at the age of 7 days, <br /> another at 28 days, and the third will be held in reserve <br /> and tested only at the direction of the Engineer. The <br /> compression test samples shall be made and cured in <br /> accordance with ASTM C31 and tested in accordance with ASTM <br /> C39. <br /> If the 28-day strength of a test cylinder is less than 4,000 <br /> psi, the reserve test cylinder shall be tested. The average <br /> strength of the two 28-day breaks shall be 4,000 psi or <br /> greater for the structure to be accepted." <br /> AD2-6 <br />
