k" KLEINFELDER
December 1, 1989
File: 24-2009-01
Mr. Dave Bates
The Marley Cooling Tower Company
P.O. Box 2912
Mission, KS 66201
Dear Mr. Bates:
Enclosed are the results of our October 25, 1989, lysimeter sampling program. Nine
samples were collected and submitted for analysis for chromium III, chromium VI, total
chromium, nitrate-n, copper, aiid arsenic.
Results of the analyses, along with the appropriate reporting limits, are presented on the
laboratory data sheets. Ten spikes and five duplicates were analyzed on specific samples
as part of the laboratory QA/QC program. The analytical laboratory had to run the nitrate
analysis twice; as a result, the nitrate analysis were run after the EPA specified holding
time. These results are included at the end of this report with the chain-of-custody form.
Table 1 correlates the lysimeter stations, sample identification, and the field observations
for this sampling event.
During the last three sampling events, the lysimeters at Stations L-5A, L-513, and L-5C
appear to have been tampered with. Clamps have been missing and vacuum lines have
apparently been cut. Because of the high visibility and location of these lysimeters, you
may wish to secure them with a locking device to minimize any further problems.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call us.
Sincerely,
KLEINFELDER, INC.
Eric (.Findlay
Project
Kent E.
