The following is a summary of the
work performed for this investlgadon:
-a
0 Obtained a well permit from th.4 San Joaquin County Public Heaith Department,
Environmental Health Divlsion to Install four groundwater-monhoring wells at this site. A
copy of tiv pcnnh is Included in appendix A.
~ 0 Drilled and logged four on-site soil borings. Soil boring locations were volected to
assess the character of dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons in the groundwater beneath
the sits.
o IrMalled four,2-Inch-dlametc,polyvinyl chlorida(PVC)groundwater monitoring wells In
' the sail borings. :.rter installation, the wells were surveyed by a professional surveyor to
,., establish Location and wellhead elevatlon.
i
0 Prepared this summary report, which Includes the results and findings of the
•t uivastatlon.
RRONITORING•WELL INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
Soil Borfnas. Four borings for the installation of grounclwater-monitoring wells(MW 1,MW-2,
M-3 and MW4)were drilled on site on February 14 and 15, 1991,anc February 19, 1991. The
locations of these borings are shown on the Sits Plan (Figure 2). The boring locations ware selected
primarily to determine t1;3 gradlent and quality of the first saturated Zone beneath the site. Each boring
was drilled using a truck-mounted rotary drill rig with 8.5-Inch cutside diameter(O.D.),hoilow-stem
augers. Drilling was supervised by a Groundwater Technology field geologist, who maintained a
t <
continuous log of the materials encountered Ins r'r snoe with the Unified Soil Classification Systam
and selected soil samples for possible laboratory analyses. For the borings for Myr'-1,MW-2 and MW-3,
a 5-foot-long core barrel was used to obtain a continuous core of the Intervals drilled.
