(BBL), on behalf of Chevron Environmental Management Company (Chevron) for Chevron Service
Station 9-0557 located at 139 South Center Street in Stockton, California.
Quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling (M&S) was conducted on March 2, 2006 by Gettler-
Ryan Inc. (G-R). The groundwater monitoring program consists of water-level-elevation monitoring,
sample collection, and chemical analysis of samples as described below.
Field Procedures
Water-level measurements were collected on March 2, 2006 from 10 monitoring wells (MW-3, MW-5
through MW-8, MW-13, MW-14, MW-15, MW-15D, and MW-16). A water level measurement could
not be collected from monitoring well MW-17 due to flooding in that area of the site. Water-level
measurements were used to calculate the water-table elevation at each well and develop a potentiometric
surface map for the site. These data allowed for subsequent estimation of the groundwater flow direction.
Groundwater samples were subsequently collected from the monitoring wells. Groundwater samples
were collected in accordance with California Environmental Protection Agency procedures outlined in
' Representative Sampling of Groundwater far Hazardous Substances (CalEPA, 1995).
A three-volume purging and sample technique, using a disposable bailer or decontaminated stack pump
and disposable bailer, was used for groundwater purging and sample collection. Field parameters were
measured after each well volume using the following series of activities and sampling protocols:
• During the purge cycle, groundwater field parameter measurements consisting of specific
conductance, pH, and temperature were measured using a groundwater water-quality meter.
Field parameters were recorded on a well volume basis.
•
11362822.doc
2033 North Main Street.•Suite 340•Walnut Creek,CA 94596•Duns#14-848-7635
Tel(925)274-1100•Fax(925)274-1103•www.bbi-inc.com•Offices Nationwide
