PUBLIC HEALTH SERVI
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DMSION
Karen Furst, M.D., M.P.H., Health Officer
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor - Stockton, CA 95202
2091468-3420 ❑
PAUL SUPPLE
ARCO STATION #4.493 NOV 6 B
P O BOX 6549
MORAGA CA 94570
RE: ARCO STATION #4493 SITE CODE: 1042
205 N CENTER ST
STOCKTON CA 95202
On September 14, 1998 San Joaquin County Public Health Services,
Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) received the Work Plan for Soil
Sampling During Removal of UST's, Product Lines, and Dispensers, which was
submitted by SECOR International Incorporated on behalf of the above
referenced site.
The work plan proposes to do a limited over-excavation of soils, up to 100 cubic
yards, if contaminated soils are encountered during the removal of two 12,000-
gallon gasoline storage tank systems. The proposed possible over-excavation is
limited to soils above current groundwater levels. If contaminated soils are
encountered below groundwater, it is the recommendation of PHS/EHD that up
to 250 cubic yards be excavated_ Excavated soils will be stockpiled on site
pending sample analysis. If it is the intention of ARCO to re-use the stockpiled
soil as fill, PHS/EHD will require one discrete soil sample per 50 cubic yards of
stockpile. Following receipt of the sample analyses a decision will be made as to
whether the stockpile can be placed back in the excavation.
PHSIEHD approves the work plan with the above noted modification to the
sampling procedure.
If you have any questions or comments call Lori Duncan at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS
Director, Environmental Health Division
LzrtA C{C a L "
Lori Duncan, REHS Margaret Lagorio, REHS
Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor, Unit IV
Cc: Mark List, CVRWQCB Rusty Benkowsky, SECOR
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
