ADEQUATE ANDNEC_MS ARY 1_U1 MENTS QFTHE WORK PLAN [f3&S 25299 37,subd(c)(3)] 1 Change in work plan proposal from installing multi-completion monitoring wells to installing three,56-foot deep, single cased monitoring wells m cluster configurations next to existing wells INIXV-4,NNW-5 and MW-7 The wells will be built with five feet of screened casing at total depth 2 The three boxings for the monitoring wells will be continuously cored as they are drilled 3 A minimi of three soil samples from each boring will be subrrutted for laboratory analysis 4 See 12/05/00 SJC/EHD correspondence for approved analysis constituents and analytical methods,for both the soil and groundwater analyses COMMENTS AND CONDITIONS 1 The multi-completion wells were approved to have three screen intervals Three additional morutonng wells must be installed,one in each cluster,to total depth of 45-feet below surface grade and with 5-foot screen intervals This depth was proposed, and approved,for morutoring in the original work plan approval letter dated December 2000 2 Lateral definition of the shallow groundwater plume has not been made at this site The responsible parties,Atlantic Richfield Company and the City of Stockton have not performed further investigation of this site in a timely manner The directive to complete the lateral definition of the groundwater contamination at this site will not be rescinded If a work plan to complete this work is not submitted by July 1,2002 the responsible parties will be considered out of compliance with regulatory directives 3 Installation of the new momtoriing wells is scheduled for the week of May 6,2002 Please proceed with submittal of the San Joaquin County well perxrut applications,required$89 00 perrrut fees and copies of the City of Stockton encroachment permits for the wells located offsite Forty-eight hours notice to SJC/EHD is required prior to uutiatioa of fieldwork u Lit- a DATED Lon Duncan,Semor REHS(209)468-0337 cc Marty Hartzell,CVRWQCB '� W- 4 1 P Bill Brown,Daley&Heft n V/Rusty Benkosky,SECOR APR 1 5 2002 I By ------------------.
