";r .)F'URS RECENED <br /> AUG 0 5 2004 <br /> August 2, 2004 ENVIRONMENT HEALTH <br /> PERMIT/SERVICES <br /> Ms Lori Duncan, Senior RENS 04493 <br /> San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department 06 a3 <br /> 304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor <br /> Stockton, California 95202 <br /> Subject: Dual-Completion Monitoring Well Installation Report <br /> Former ARCO Service Station No.4493 <br /> 205 North Center Street,Stockton, California <br /> r <br /> Dear Ms Duncan <br /> URS Corporation Americas (URS) has prepared this report on behalf of Atlantic Richfield Company <br /> (ARCO-a BP-affiliated company) to document the installation of one dual-completion groundwater <br /> monitoring well set at former ARCO Station No 4493 at 205 North Center Street in Stockton, <br /> California (Figure 1) The purpose of this effort was to install a monitoring well set to evaluate the <br /> lateral and vertical extent of gasoline-related hydrocarbons in groundwater downgradient from the site <br /> The dual-completion monitoring well set was installed as requested by the San Joaquin County <br /> Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD) in a letter dated March 21, 2003 (Attachment A) The <br /> monitoring well was installed downgradient (northeast) from the former pump islands The location <br /> was approved by the SJCEHD in correspondence dated December 8, 2003 (Attachment A) <br /> This work was performed as described in the URS Work Plan Addendum for Dual-Completion <br /> Monitoring Wells dated May 15, 2003 The URS work plan addendum was approved by the SJCEHD in <br /> a letter dated May 29, 2003 (Attachment A) The SJCEHD drilling permit for the monitoring well set is <br /> included as Attachment B <br /> SITE BACKGROUND <br /> Former ARCO Station No 4493 site is located at 205 North Center Street in Stockton, California <br /> Three 12,000-gallon underground storage tanks (USTs) were installed at the site in 1984 The service <br /> station was demolished, and the USTs were removed during the first quarter of 1999 The site is on <br /> property identified as Weber Point, the Stockton Channel is adjacent to the site, to the south The City <br /> of Stockton has redeveloped the Weber Point area as a city park - <br /> In July 1997, the SJCEHD sent ARCO a letter stating that the former Shell service station <br /> approximately 300 feet east of the ARCO site had reported increasing concentrations of methyl tertiary- <br /> butyl ether (MtBE) in the Shell upgradient wells These wells were to the northeast of the ARCO <br /> station, northeast is a dominant historical groundwater flow direction near the ARCO site The gasoline <br /> stored at the Shell station reportedly never contained MtBE The Shell site was granted closure by the <br /> URS Corporation <br /> Crown Corporate Center <br /> 2870 Gateway Oaks Drive Suite 300 <br /> Sacramento CA 95833 <br /> Tel 916 679 2000 <br /> Fax 916 679 2900 <br />
