KLEINFELDER <br /> 3 BACKGROUND <br /> Kleinfelder has conducted a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) portion of 221 <br /> � ) on a <br /> North Center Street, of the property commonly referred to as the Weber Point South Seawall in <br /> Stockton, California (Kleinfelder Job No 20-1129-30 GOI, report dated July 14, 1997 Plate I <br /> shows the locations of the subject property As part of the ESA conducted for the site, <br /> recommendations were made for further assessment in areas suspected to contain potential soil <br /> and/or groundwater contamination which may have migrated from offsite sources These are of <br /> concern due to the proposed seawall Improvements <br /> This portion of the site has historically been used for freight storage sheds, boat access and/or <br /> berthing A Holiday Inn and Hohdome hotel was constructed adjacent to the north and prior to Its <br /> 1 closure and subsequent demolition shared a common asphalt parking lot with the subject site <br /> Portions of the study area appear to be constructed of debris and imported fill A retail service <br /> station (ARCO at 205 North Center Street) adjacent to the northeast and east has the potential to <br /> impact the site because of the potential release of petroleum hydrocarbons to the soil and/or <br /> groundwater from underground storage tanks In addition, there are several properties with <br /> documented groundwater contamination, which surround the subject site Therefore, in the above- <br /> mentioned ESA report, Kleinfelder recommended that soil and groundwater samples be collected <br /> and analyzed for volatile organics, ActdBase Neutral Organics, fuel fingerprint, and Total <br /> Purgeable Petroleum Hydrocarbons <br /> 20-1129-30/20171131-4 Page 5 of 13 <br /> ' © 1997, Kltinfddcr Inc July 14 1997 <br />
