rin KLEINFELDER
' 4 FIELD ACTIVITIES
r
r4.1. PRE-FIELD ACTIVITIES
Kleinfelder prepared a workplan for First Service Properties, for review and approval by the San
rJoaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) in accordance with the EHD well
permit requirements. Kleinfelder prepared the drilling permit application and Master File Record
r for First Service Properties and submitted it to EHD along with the required fees. A copy of the
permit to drill is found in Appendix A.
r Underground Service Alert was contacted prior to conducting fieldwork to notify local utilities of
our proposed subsurface work. Kleinfelder additionally arranged for a private utility locator
service to clear the area inside the fenced boundary of the site.
1
4.2. MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION
' Three soil borings were drilled with a hollow stem auger drill rig equipped with 8-inch outside
diameter hollow stem augers. Soil samples were collected every five feet from each soil boring
for lithologic classification and potential laboratory analysis. Samples were collected by
advancing the boring to a point immediately above the desired sampling depth and then driving a
diameter split-spoon sampler, lined with three 2-inch diameter by 6-inch long stainless steel
tubes, into the undisturbed soil. The sampler was then removed from the bottom of the boring.
Representative soil samples were collected for lithologic analysis.
rKleinfelder installed a monitoring well in each of the three soil borings. Table 1 outlines
groundwater monitoring well designations, locations and rationale for their placement.
' Text Table 1
Monitoring Well Locations
'
M
ell Location Monitoring Rationale
Southeast corner of site Pro osed down radient location
Northern ortion of site Pro osedu Southwest onion of site Pro osed u radient location
rMonitoring well MW-1 was advanced near the southeast corner of the site. The location of MW-1
was chosen based on a regional groundwater flow and was proposed to be the downgradient
rmonitoring point. MW-2 was advanced near the northern portion of the site.
