This Work Plan
addresses all the required elements of Section 3.1.3, except 3. 1.3 (a) Project
Management, which is provided under separate cover.
As specified in Section 3. 1 .2 of the Order, we are providing PG&E's responses
to Department's comments on the previously submitted RI documents with this
Work Plan. Comments received from the Department on June 29, 1990 were
responded to by Mr. Robert Doss by letter dated July 31, 1990. For your
convenience, this correspondence is attached and our responses herein follow
the topical format of the July 31 response.
- Subsurface Surveys
As promised, we have performed ground penetrating radar and
electromagnetic terrain conductivity surveys as part of our scoping
investigation. The results of these surveys can be found in Section 2.2.2
of the Work Plan.
- Retention of Soil Borings
We have been unable to locate any cores from the 1987 sampling.
Representative cores from future studies will be archived as a lithologic
record and for reanalysis of non-volatile constituents as permissible
under state and federal hazardous waste storage regulations.
- Off-Site Soil Boring, Off-Site Groundwater Monitoring Wells
The Work Plan proposes that off-site borings be conducted at two locations
in Area III on the Morton Paint Company property. Pending the results of
these activities, further investigation including groundwater monitoring
wells may be considered.
- Presentation of Lithologic, Analytic and Hydrologic Results
PG&E intends to present soils data and findings as stratigraphic cross-
sections in future reports.
