James L. Tjosvold, P.E.
July 24, 1996
Page 4
IV. Activities Planned for Next Quarter:
As agreed to at the May 22, 1996 meeting, PG&E is combining the soil and groundwater
into a single feasibility study. The draft schedule submitted to the agencies on June 6, 1996
includes several agency meetings to be conducted prior to submittal of the draft soil and
groundwater feasibility study. These include meetings and/or conference calls to discuss
and agree on: source areas, ARARs and screening technologies; screening of remedial
action alternatives; and detailed evaluation of remedial action alternatives.
On July 9, 1996, PG&E received a letter from DTSC regarding the proposed feasibility
study approach clarifying that DTSC considers background or non-detect to be the
starting point for evaluating technologies in the feasibility study. The letter also suggested
that more information is needed to define soils to background levels. PG&E is preparing a
response to this letter.
PG&E is preparing responses to DTSC and RWQCB comments received on the draft Soil
OUFS (draft Soil OUFS submitted to agencies on November 7, 1995 and agency
comments submitted to PG&E in a letter dated December 26, 1995) prior to submittal of
the draft soil and groundwater feasibility study.
PG&E received agency comments (July 9, 1996 letter) on the "Phase IV Groundwater
Investigation Draft Report", which was submitted to the agencies on June 11, 1996.
PG&E is preparing a letter addendum to the Phase IV report addressing these agency
comments.
The results of quarterly groundwater monitoring done in June, 1996 will be submitted to
the agencies by July 31, 1996 in the"Quarterly Monitoring Report, PG&E Stockton
Former MGP Site, Second Quarter 1996".
The next quarterly groundwater monitoring will be conducted in September, 1996.
V. Results of Analyses Tests or Other Data:
Groundwater sampling was conducted in June, 1996 and the analytical results will be
submitted to DTSC and the RWQCB by July 31, 1996 in the"Quarterly Monitoring
Report, PG&E Stockton Former MGP Site, Second Quarter, 1996".
