California Waste Tire Management, Tracy CA Page 3 of 3
Subject: RE: California Waste Tire Management, Tracy CA
I called Eric Breitstein yesterday and he gave me basically the same story you mention
below in your message except now he doesn't really want to apply for a permit. He
said he was going to try to get the waste tire numbers below 1,500. 1 mentioned that
the 1,500 number associated with the tire dealers waste tire storage limit has a 90 day
removal requirement. I informed Eric that he needed to call around and find someone
to remove the tires to catch him up on waste tire removal and that the extra cost
associated with having another hauler, other than Shamrock, remove the tires would
be cheaper then the fine he could be facing for violating his storage limit--operating a
minor without a permit. He acted like he was going to step up his efforts to get the tires
removed.
He also said he has all the minor waste tire facility application information available to
him and if he wasn't able to reduce the tires to the appropriate level promptly he would
apply for the permit.
Terry Smith <;{{{{{><
E-mail: tsmith@ciwmb.ca.gov
Phone: (916) 341-6427
Fax: (916) 319-7498
Permit& Enforcement Section
Waste Tire Management Branch
Special Waste Division
From: Jennifer L. I'm referring this one to CIWMB. He has made effort, I saw CTLs
for about 2500 tires disposed of at Shamrock, but he can only haul 400 tires at a time
and he has barely made a dent in his site while his business (Cox Tires-TPID#
1294184-01) perpetuates bringing more tires to the site. He hasn't been able to catch
up. I counted 1800 tires today. He will continue to try to bring his numbers down, but in
the mean time (until Shamrock begins to pick up his trailers) he is agreeing to apply for
the permit. He has the forms and contact info.
Jenni
1/3/2007
