X INTRODUCTION <br /> At the request of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department <br /> (County), Philip Environmental Services Corporation(PSC) performed a subsurface <br /> investigation in the vicinity of 1717 South Center Street in Stockton, California (Site) <br /> This investigation assessed the extent of petroleum-impacted soil and groundwater <br /> around a former gasoline underground storage tank (UST) that had been previously <br /> removed from the Site <br /> The investigation included driving six Geoprobe borings, and completing one <br /> groundwater monitoring well, one air sparging well, and one soil vapor extraction <br /> well Soil and groundwater samples were collected for laboratory analysis of <br /> applicable gasoline indicator contaminants A description of the Site, previous UST- <br /> related work, investigation procedures and findings are contained herein <br /> 1.1 Site Location <br /> The Site is located at 1717 South Center Street, on the northwest corner of <br /> South Center Street and Third Street in Stockton, California (see Figure 1, <br /> Vicinity Map) Up to 1988, this Site was operated by Kilpatrick's Bakeries, <br /> Inc as a bakery product storage depot The current property owner, Mr Jerry <br /> Gregersen of Stockton, California, leases the Site to an auto body and <br /> furniture repair business <br /> The Site comprises about 9,000 square feet of area, including an <br /> approximately 4,000 square feet, sheet metal-constructed building situated on <br /> a slab-on-grade spread footing (see Figure 2, Site Plan) There is no basement <br /> structure associated with this building The majority of the site and the area <br /> around the former UST are paved with asphalt or concrete <br /> Other properties in the vicinity comprise a mix of commercial and residential <br /> properties Edison High School is situated about 3 blocks to the north An <br /> operating gasoline station, which is the subject of an existing County leaking <br /> UST case, is located about 1 block to the north on the east side of South <br /> Center Street The closest private residence to the former UST area is situated <br /> about 150 feet to the southwest The closest surface water body is the Mormon <br /> Slough, located about 4,500 feet to the north <br /> The property east of the Site, across South Center Street at 1725 El Dorado <br /> Street, is a business currently operated as Glass Replacement and Supplies <br /> This property is situated on a traffic island between South Center and El <br /> Dorado Streets Historic information indicates that this property was formerly <br /> operated as a retail gasoline station Research performed in Polk and Haynes <br /> Stockton City directories indicates that the 1725 El Dorado Street property <br /> a <br /> March 2002 <br /> Subsurface Site Investigation <br /> 1717 South Center Street-Stockton,California <br /> Prepared by Philip Services Corp <br /> 14\ENV%2400132"21382EG\PmtcctsVSto kCentlmuch20O2mvesttgation doc May 14 2002 <br />
