Page 4
Mr Michael Infurna Jr,Senior REHS
November 7,2000
xylenes concentrations in the current MW-2 sample show similar fluctuations
compared to historic results
Petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected in the third quarter 2000 samples
collected from upgradient monitoring wells MW-1 and MW-3 Similarly,
groundwater samples collected from these wells in July 1999 did not contain
detectable petroleum compounds Petroleum compounds were detected in samples
from these wells during the second quarter 2000 monitoring However, the
detection of petroleum hydrocarbons in upgradient wells during the second
quarter of 2000 may have been an anomalous occurrence
Three oxygenate compounds were measured during this recent monitoring event
The groundwater sample collected from well MW-2 contained TBA, MTBE, and
DIPE at concentrations of 180 ug/l, 20 ug/l, and 7 5 ug/l, respectively Oxygenate
compounds were not detected in the samples collected from upgradient wells
MW-1 and MW-3
Petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations are summarized in Table 2 Benzene and
` TPHg groundwater sample results are illustrated in Figure 4 and Figure 5,
respectively Acculabs reports are contained in Attachment 3
Conclusions
Based on current monitoring data, groundwater was measured in the monitoring
wells at a depth of about 24 feet below the ground surface` Groundwater was
evaluated to flow southeasterly at an approximate gradient of 6 97 x 10-3 feet per
foot
Current groundwater monitoring results indicate that concentrations of TPHg and
BTEX compounds were detected in the MW-2 groundwater sample TPHg and
BTEX compounds were not detected in samples from upgradient monitonng
wells The extent of petroleum hydrocarbon impact can not be delineated at this
time
TBA, MTBE, and DIPE were detected in the most recent sample collected from
well MW-2 These oxygenate compounds were not detected in samples collected
from upgradient monitoring wells
