' 3 SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION SYSTEM MONITORING
On behalf of PSC, ETIC performed weekly air monitoring on the SVE system during
this past quarter starting with the November 9, 2005 weekly event Kleinfelder
performed the weekly events through November 2, 2005 This report summarizes the
data generated during this period The data are presented in the following sections
i Summary tables for contaminant removal results and air emission results are included
in Tables 5 and 6 The most current field data sheet is included in Appendix C The
! most current laboratory analytical report is included in Appendix D
i
3.1 Air Monitoring Procedures
During system operation, airflow rates are measured weekly in sparging well
SP-1 and in venting wells VW-1 and MW-2 Flow rates are adjusted as
necessary Volatile organic compound (VOC) vapors are measured from the
1 sample ports of the influent stream, the first carbon vessel effluent stream
(GAC-1), and from the second carbon vessel effluent stream (GAC-2) with a
Photo-ionization Detector (PID) Air vapors are then collected from the same
Iports in Tedlar bags for laboratory analysis The samples were analyzed by
GD Air Testing for BTEX and TPH-g by EPA Method TO-14 The samples
for the November 16, 2005 event were inadvertently submitted to Calscience
Environmental Laboratories for analysis
1 i 3.2 BTEX and TPH-g Analytical Results
Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes, and/or TPH-g were detected in the
influent air sample for each event The concentrations decreased significantly
or were non-detect in the final effluent sample "GAC-2" for each event
There were no data for sample "Influent" to report for the weekly event on
August 23, 2005, due to the Tedlar bag popping during shipment There were
no sample data to report for the weekly events from August 31, 2005 through
September 21, 2005, due to system repairs There were no data for sample
I "GAC-2" to report for the weekly event on October 20, 2005, due to the
Tedlar bag popping during shipment Therefore, the value for the October 20,
2005 effluent air sample "GAC-1" was used in presenting the effluent
concentration data on Table 6
I
3.3 Contaminant Removal and Air Emission Results
L' The current total mass of TPH-g removed from the soil is estimated at 190
pounds, which is approximately 56% of the initial estimated amount released
CThe overall mean influent TPH-g rate was 3 17 lbs/day, while the average
l L1 g
Quarterly Groundwater Momtonng Report
4th Quarter-November 2005
Prepared for SARA LEE BAKERY GROUP,INC Prepared by PSC EnvEronmental Services
' I Envest%attve and Quarterly[report 14th Quarterly Report 11_2005 doc February 24,2006
