CPT SOIL BORINGS
Between 14 August 2001 and 21 August 2001, six soil borings (CPT-01 through CPT-06) were
advanced on-site utilizing CPT technology to characterize the geological and hydro-geological
framework and to identify potential contaminant-migration pathways beneath the, site
' Based on CPT hthologic sounding data collected in borings CPT-01 through CPT-06, depth-discrete
"grab"ground water samples were collected in CPT borings placed immediately adjacent to CPT-01
' through CPT-06 The samples, collected were assigned the boring designation of the original boring T
adjacent to the "twin" boring advanced to collect the samples CPT boring logs are presented'in
Appendix A, a site plan depicting boring locations is presented in Figure 2
i
2 1 CPT LITHOLOGIC SOUNDINGS
' Soil borings CPT-02, CPT-04, CPT-05 and CPT-06 were advanced vertically P to total depths of 175
feet bsg, soil boring CPT-03 was advanced,to approximately 147 feet bsg and soil boring CPT-01
' was advanced vertically to a total depth of approximately 122 feet bsg utilizing a 25-ton truck-
mounted CPT drill rig equipped with 2-inch diameter hollow-stem rods A hydraulic ram was
utilized to advance a cone penetrometer tip to total depth of each CPT boring Physical parameters
' of the soil, such as cone penetrometer tip resistance, sleeve friction, friction ratio (ratio between
sleeve friction and tip resistance) and pore water pressure, were continuously measured as the cone
penetrometer was advanced to depth A continuous boring log was generated utilizing the
Advanced GeoEnvtronmentai,Tnc
