1 <br /> Site Background Information <br /> FERNANDO'S PLACE <br /> 1201 South Center Street, Stockton, California <br />' INTRODUCTION <br /> The site is located at the intersection of Jackson Street,French Camp Road, and South Center Street <br /> in Stockton, California(Figure 2), and is the location of a former gasoline service station The site <br /> is currently occupied by several buildings,including a small-engine repair facility and a single-story, <br />' multi-family residence <br /> REGIONAL GEOLOGICIHYDROGEOLOGIC SETTING <br /> According to the Geologic Map of California, published in 1977 by the State of California <br />' Department of Mines and Geology, the site area is located within the Great Valley Geomorphic <br /> Province of California,a large,elongate,northwest trending,asymmetric structural trough The Great <br /> Valley Province has been filled to its present elevation with thick sequences of sediment ranging in <br />' age from Jurassic to Recent, creating a nearly flat lying alluvial plain that extends from the <br /> Tehachapi Mountains in the south to the Klamath Mountains In the north The western and eastern <br /> boundaries of this province are comprised of the California Coast Range and the Sierra Nevada <br /> r• Mountains, respectively The province is subdivided into two mayor divisions, designated the <br /> Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys <br />' Based on the General Soil Map from the San Joaquin County Soil Survey,published by the United <br /> States Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service in 1992, the site area is within the <br /> Jacktone-Hol lenbeck-Stockton (JHS) association The JHS soils are located within basins, and <br /> generally consist of moderately-to poorly-drained,fine-textured soils The soils are generally derived <br /> from both marine and non-marine origins,and are generally formed in alluvium derived from mixed <br />' rock sources <br />' PREVIOUS SITE ASSESSMENT <br /> According to Work Plan- Phase 2 Site Investigation, 1201 S Center Street, Stockton, CA,dated 28 <br />' May 1999 and prepared by Foothill Engineering(FE),two 500 gallon and one 8,500 gallon gasoline <br /> underground storage tanks(UST 1,UST 2,and UST 3,respectively)were removed from the site by <br /> Jim Thorpe Oil on 26 October 1994 Ten soil samples were analyzed from the excavation soil <br />' stockpile, the UST excavations, and the product piping by GeoAnalytical Labs Each sample <br /> contained detectable concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbon contamination FE reported that the <br /> highest concentrations were located near the west end of UST 3 (Figure 2) The excavation was <br /> backfilled to surface grade following sample collection <br /> .
