I r r r
' 23 December 2005
. AGE-NC Project No 00-0769
2 1 WELL MONITORING AND EVACUATION
I ,
On 08 and 09 September 2005,ground water monitoring and sampling were performed at one single-
' completed momtoring'well location (MW-1),two clustered monitonng well locations (MW-2A/B''
and MW-3A/B),and six multi-chambered monitoring well locations[MW-4(A-E),MW-5(A-E),and
MW-6(A-D)through MW-9(A-D)], a total of 31 well points were monitored and sampled
' On 08 September 2005,a Solinst water level meter was used to measure the depth to water in all the
wells to the nearest 0 01-foot, relative to the tops of the well casings(Table 1) Between 6 5 and 12
' gallons of ground water (a minimum of three casing-water volumes per well) were evacuated
(purged)from single-level wells MW-1,MW-213,and MW-3B,and between 40 and 45 gallons were
purged from deep,single-level wells MW-2A and MW-3A,utilizing disposable polyethylene bailers
' or a Waterra inertial pump equipped with 4-inch diameter polyethylene tubing and a check valve
Multi-level monitoring wells MW-4 through MW-9 were purged utilizing the Waterra inertial pump
equipped with 3/s-inch diameter polyethylene tubing and a check valve Approximately 0 45 to
' 5 5 gallons of ground water(a minimum of three casing-water volumes per well)were purged from
the multi-level monitoring wells MW-6D was purged dry after 4 75 gallons of water were removed,
the well was allowed to recharge before sampling
• Temperature,pH,and conductivity were measured at regular purge-volume intervals from each well
using an Oakton water analyzer Field logs are provided in Appendix B Purged water was
' temporarily stored on-site in properly labeled, Department of Transportation (DOT)-approved
55-
,gallon drums pending proper disposal
2 2 COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
' On 08 and 09 September 2005,ground water samples were collected from the nine monitoring wells
onsite Wells MW-213 and MW-3B were evacuated utilizing!new, 2-inch diameter disposable
I polyethylene bailers Samples were collected from wells MW-1, MW-2A, MW-3A, and MW-4A
through MW-9D utilizing a Waterra inertia pump and 3/s-inch diameter polyethylene tubing The
samples were transferred into three, 40-milliliter EPA-approved volatile organic analysis (VOA) ,
' vials containing 0 5 ml 18%hydrochloric acid solution as a preservative Care was taken to ensure
that visible air bubbles were not present In the vials after filling and capping The sample vials were
labeled with the monitoring well designation,,date, time of sampling, and the sampler's initials
' Following collection, samples were placed in a chilled container and transported under chain of
custody to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories (CTEL), a California Department of Health
Services(DHS)-certified analytical laboratory, for analysis Samples were analyzed for the following
constituents
' Advanced GeoEnvironmental;Inc
