V
5.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RE COMMENDATIONS
This investigation revealed minor evidence of residual contamination in the vicinity of the
former waste-oil tank. It should also be noted that the contamination was found 10 feet from the
original tank cavity. However, if one assumes, that contamination encompassed an area around
LA-2 (15'L X 10' W X YT) and the average contamination level is 0.006 ppm benzene, then the
volume of contaminated soil is.28 cubic yards would be contaminated. Of this, the volume of
benzene contamination left in place would equal .1.27 milliliter. Based on the minimal amount
V
of soil contamination and evidence indicating that the depth to first groundwater has historically
ranged between 45 and 65 feet at this site, we conclude that it is unlikely that the storage of used
motor oil on the property has negatively impacted the groundwater. Therefore, we recommend
that the stockpiled drill cuttings be spread out on Academy property and the site be closed with
no further investigation.
6.0 REMARKS AND SIGNA'T'URE
The recommendations contained in this report represent a professional opinion, and are based in
part on information supplied by the client.
