CYA
A S S O C I A T E S I N C
SCOPE OF WORK
Planning and Scheduling
Upon approval of this workplan, ATC will complete the necessary permits and associated fees
required by San Joaquin County for the installation of a soil boring. ATC will then schedule
field personnel and equipment, notify Underground Services Alert to locate underground utilities
as required, and perform any other necessary field preparation and job start-up activities.
Installation of Soil Borings
To evaluate the extent of impacted soil at the site, one soil boring will be advanced using a hand
auger to approximately 2 feet below the lower surface of the north most tank of the inactive
separator, approximately 7 feet below ground surface (bgs). The proposed boring location is
shown on Figure 2.
Following soil sample collection, the boring will be backfilled with neat cement grout to the
ground surface. All soil cuttings, if any, will be stored on-site in a 5-gallon container pending
laboratory results.
Sample Analysis
The soil sample from the soil boring will be immediately placed in a cooler with ice and
delivered under chain-of-custody documentation to a State-certified analytical laboratory. The
soil sample will be analyzed on an overnight turn-around basis for volatile organic compounds
including fuel additives and dry-cleaning solvents by EPA Method 8260.
Report Preparation
A summary report will be prepared for submittal to San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department (SJEHD). The report will include a description of all field activities, laboratory
analytical results, and a boring log. All work described in this workplan will be performed under
the direction of a California Registered Professional Engineer. All work will be performed in
accordance with ATC's Site Safety Plan (SSP) contained in Attachment 1 and Quality
Control/Quality Assurance Plan contained in Attachment 2.
Projected Schedule
Once approval of this workplan has been received, ATC will submit a permit application and
associated fees to San Joaquin County and confirm a schedule for boring activities. ATC will
notify SJEHD at least 48 hours prior to beginning any field activities. Boring activities are
anticipated to be completed in one day. The summary report will be submitted to SJEHD after
the completion of field activities.
wAenviromental\05257\wkp.doc 2
