oil and Groundwater Tnvestigatiori Work Plan
Raymond Investment Corporation
February 19,2004
Page 3
from the boringsr3' Y for laboratory analyses based on field observations and PID measurements. It is
anticipated that a maximum of three soil samples will be collected from each boring for laboratory
analyses. The soil cuttings will be placed in a 55-gallon drum, scaled, labeled, and left on-site to await
disposal pending results of the laboratory analyses.
Each soil sample collected for laboratory analyses will be cut from the liners. The liners will be sealed'at
the ends with Teflon® sheeting, capped, and labeled. The samples will be placed in a cooler chilled with
t Blue Ice(D and delivered under chain-of-custody procedures to a California certified laboratory for
analyses.
Groundwater samples will be collected using a push-type groundwater sampler. The sampler has a sealed,
retrievable stainless steel screen. The sampler will be pushed in a closed position to the desired sampling
interval. The sampler push rod will then be retracted exposing the inlet screen. Groundwater will flow
hydrostatically from the formation into the inlet screen. A groundwater sample will be retrieved from within
the screen with a length of clean, 3/8-inch diameter polytygon tubing equipped with a check valve at the
+ bottom. The tubing will be moved up and down by hand to draw groundwater up inside the tubing. The
groundwater samples will be discharged directly from the tubing into laboratory supplied sample
containers. The sample containers will be sealed, labeled, placed in a cooler chilled with Blue Ice®, and
delivered under chain-of-custody procedures to a California certified laboratory for analyses.
3.3 LABORATORY ANALYSES
The soil and groundwater samples collected from the borings will be analyzed for TPH-G, TEPH-D,
TEPH-MO, and total extractable petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as kerosene (TEPH-K) by EPA
Method 8015B, and for BTEX and gasoline oxygenates/additives by EPA Method 8260B. The gasoline
additives/oxygenates include tertiary-butanol (TBA), methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), di-isopropyl
ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary-amyl' methyl ether (TAME), and 1,2-
dichlor6ethane (1,2-DCA). The soil and groundwater samples will also be analyzed for lead by EPA
Method 7420.
4*t rk -r-rLe.
