Samples of excavations <br /> L should be taken from material in the excavator bucket after it is brought to ground surface. Proper <br /> barricades shall be placed around open excavations when work is not in progress. <br /> LFALL PROTECTION <br /> The Site Safety Officer will verify that all Condor employees and its subcontractors are using appropriate <br /> fall protection. The three major components of personal fall arrest protection are harness, lanyard, and <br /> Lsecure anchorage. OSHA requires that fall protection be used anytime someone is working over six feet <br /> above the ground or the floor.MSHA requires that fall protection be used anytime a risk of falling exists. <br /> TRIP AND SLIP PROTECTION <br /> Good housekeeping shall be maintained at the site to prevent trip and slip hazards. <br /> LHEAT STRESS <br /> Heat stress will be a hazard during hot weather and will be intensified when personnel are in protective <br /> clothing (if necessary). To prevent heat stress, personnel will be required to take breaks as needed and to <br /> consume adequate quantities of liquid. <br /> SUNBURN <br /> UV radiation is a hazard for outdoor workers. Unprotected exposure can damage the skin, eyes, and <br /> immune system. Outdoor workers have more accumulated lifetime exposure to the sun, receive up to 8 <br /> L times more UV exposure, and have a 60 percent greater risk of developing skin cancer than indoor <br /> workers. Workers should use sunscreen or sun block to reduce their exposure to UV radiation. Several <br /> applications may be required during the course of the day to provide optimum protection. <br /> LBIOLOGICAL HAZARDS <br /> L <br /> STINGING INSECTS <br /> Care should be exercised to avoid bees, yellow jackets, or other stinging or biting insects. <br /> L ANIMAL <br /> The site is located in downtown Stockton. Potential animal hazards are stray dogs and rodent droppings. <br /> PLANT <br /> No poisonous plants have been identified in the site area. <br /> LCHEMICAL HAZARDS <br /> INHALATION <br /> L Care should be exercised to avoid creating excess dust during sampling activities. Personnel will work <br /> up-wind of sampling locations. Potable water will be used on Site for dust control.
