Channel Street
Stockton, CA
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division
(PHS/EHD) has reviewed a letter dated January 24, 1995, prepared by SEMCO for
excavation of contaminated soil at the above referenced site at the time of the
underground storage tank removal.
The letter refers to soil samples collected by Del-Tech on July 29, 1993, which
are not recognized by PHS/EHD. Please ensure that SEMCO has copies of the soil
sample results from the work that Geological Audit Services conducted at the site
on July 11, 1994.
The number of soil samples to be analyzed is not discussed. Please be prepared
to collect and have analyzed sufficient sidewall and bottom samples as necessary
as determined by the PHS/EHD staff present at the time of the excavating
activities. The soil samples are to be analyzed by a Department of Health
Services certified laboratory for the particular method and detection limits
specified in the Tri-Regional Board Staff Recommendations Table 2 (enclosed) for
BTEX and TPH as gasoline, kerosene and diesel.
It is anticipated that the amount of excavation required will be minimal. Please
be advised that unless the resultant report will be signed by a properly licensed
professional the amount of excavation will be limited by PHS/EHD staff.
If you have any questions contact Margaret Lagorio at (209) 468-3449.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Margar Lagorio, Lead Senior REHS DianeM. inson, REHS
Site Mitigation Unit Supervisor
ML
Enc.
C: SEMCO
A Dkision of San Joaquin County Health Care Service%
